When the vibrant hues of fall blanket Muskoka in fiery shades of red, orange, and gold, the view from Melissa Felton’s office at Rocky Crest Golf Resort becomes nothing short of spectacular.

“It’s one of my favourite times of year,” says Melissa, who works as Conference Services Manager at the scenic Lake Joseph resort.

“There’s a smell in the air in the fall. If we could only bottle it, we’d be rich,” she laughs.

It’s this natural beauty, combined with the peace and tranquility of Muskoka, that makes Rocky Crest and its sister property, Sherwood Inn, ideal destinations for corporate retreats and team-building events.

Scenic Setting For Connection

Imagine gathering your team amidst the breathtaking backdrop of autumn’s splendour, where the crisp air and towering trees provide a serene escape from the daily grind.

These resorts blend luxurious accommodations, modern amenities, gracious hospitality and unparalleled natural beauty. Best of all, guests never have to leave the property.

“That’s what truly sets us apart,” says Tammy Purvis, Regional Group Sales Manager.

“Having everything on-site — accommodations, meals, meeting spaces — creates an environment where teams can focus, connect, and recharge.”

Beautiful Space, Inside & Out

Rocky Crest, an all-suite resort with private entrances, full-living rooms and dining rooms, offers a comfortable and flexible experience for corporate groups.

Just off the lobby, a versatile conference room is available for meetings, staging, or gift distribution.

The Lake Joseph Conference Centre adds even more options, with multiple room sizes, floor-to-ceiling windows, and a hospitality room with bar service and catering.

For post-meeting downtime, guests can gather in the games room with a pool table and TV.

Along with indoor conference rooms, Rocky Crest has a 3,200-square-foot marquee tent with receptions for up to 200. The three season event space also has a private patio, perfect for cozy fall bonfires.

Between meetings, the resort offers many opportunities to commune with nature through peaceful morning walks along the shoreline or on the hiking trails.

Guests can also golf at the 18-hole championship course or enjoy a tranquil boat ride across the shimmering waters. Lake access is one of the many advantages of the Muskoka properties.

“There are so many ways to get on the water, if you want to be the captain yourself or hire someone to do it for you,” says Melissa.

Both resorts have canoes, kayaks, paddle boards and paddle boats available for use.

“The surrounding fall foliage creates the ideal backdrop for reflection, relaxation, and team bonding,” Melissa adds.

An Inn With Gravitas

Sherwood Inn is renowned for its intimate setting and a rustic charm that permeates the property.

“It is one of the oldest remaining resort properties in Muskoka,” says Christina Van Kempen, Conference Services Manager of the inn.

The large, rustic windows of the main lodge frame the seasonal transformation of the trees, inviting guests to take in the beauty right from the comfort of their accommodations. The country inn has a variety of room types — including cottages with decks and Muskoka rooms suitable for group gatherings. Most of the rooms have sweeping views of the lake and cozy amenities such as wood burning fireplaces.

There are also versatile meeting rooms so guests can enjoy a productive workday in comfort.  The 1,700-square-foot Veranda Room has floor to ceiling windows. There are also two smaller board rooms in the manor house, which used to be the innkeeper’s house.

And there’s a cozy wine cellar that seats up to 16 for private dinners or wine tastings. The restaurant has more than 200 wine labels on its list.

Christina says she loves fall because it’s a little quieter than summer, but the weather is still conducive to being outside and on the lake. Guests can also relax in the on-site spa or explore the outdoors with tennis and pickleball courts, bonfire pits, walking trails, and Muskoka chairs placed for the best views.

“There is always somewhere you can find to watch the sunset. It’s truly remarkable to see the colours of the setting sun surrounded by the fall colours. Like a breath of fresh air,” Tammy adds.

“Fall in Muskoka is like a warm hug. It’s the perfect time to escape the office, spark creativity, and strengthen connections—in a setting that feels a world away.”

Flavours of the Season

After a productive day, guests can enjoy exceptional dining at both resorts, where menus feature Muskoka’s fall harvest and locally sourced ingredients.

Whether it’s a rustic meal shared in a cozy dining room or a chef-curated private dinner overlooking the lake, dining becomes part of the retreat experience.

“Cranberries on the menu, warm cider and cookies on arrival, and those views—you don’t get much better than that,” says Tammy.

A Retreat That Resonates

With a combination of stunning scenery, thoughtful amenities, and seamless service, Rocky Crest and Sherwood Inn offer a corporate retreat experience that’s as refreshing as it is productive.

“Fall in Muskoka is like a warm hug,” Tammy adds. “It’s the perfect time to escape the office, spark creativity, and strengthen connections—in a setting that feels a world away.”
